I am a brown person who grew up in a very rich white town.
When I was little my aunt (or grandmother) would come to my school for performances or to pick me up and I would always get the same comment from my friends, “That’s your aunt? But she’s…white.” I’m sure all of their parents were thinking the same thing, but kids have no filters.
